Site Review: myShape.com – Clothes To Fit Your Shape

One of the things I really want to achieve with this site is a resource where you can find good information, for free, on how to dress for your shape, so that other people like me, who didn’t know an empire line from a kitten heel, can, from scratch, develop their own style. Some people don’t want to know how to do it though, they just want to reap the benefits. To be told these are the things that will fit you. Choose what you want. If that describes you then check out myShape.com.

myShape.com is a personal shopping website. They have defined seven body shapes which they’ve labeled M, Y, S, H, A, P, E, which is kind of creepy, but probably quite functional. Remember shapes are arbitrary and only there to categorize and it doesn’t matter what shape or size you may or may not be if the result is looking and feeling fabulous.

When you join up there is an extensive questionnaire to go through including lots and lots of measurements including some that I would never have even thought of taking. The idea being that the more they know about you the better fitting the clothes they suggest will be. From the measurements you’re categorized into one of the seven body shapes.

My shape is M. There is only a small amount of information about how they categorize body shapes and what will and will not suit that particular shape. It’s not a teaching site – it’s a shopping site. There are two options; shop your personal shop which has only clothing in a size and style that will definitely fit you or shop the entire collection.

I was pleasantly surprised by the stuff in my collection. The majority of the items would suit someone my shape with only a couple of real misses (like a turtleneck jumper – a woman with breasts like mine just can’t carry off a turtleneck) and there were definitely things there I wanted to buy. Unfortunately they only ship to the US and Canada so I was out of luck. I still log in now and then to see if there’s anything I like enough to bother tracking down and to keep an eye on what’s out there.

myShape.com is a good option to style your body shape, but keep coming back to my site. I’ll miss you!

Good shopping,

LISA

About Lisa

I love clothes and in particular shoes but I'm just such a funky shape I find it hard to find stuff that works for me. I needed a little help and that led to my work on this blog. Turns out I love writing too, as well as helping people so I'm really onto a winner here!

Thank you for this article!! Trying to figure out my body shape, I had looked on dozens of different websites, but I couldn’t decide between an hourglass or a cello. Now I’m definitely sure I’m a cello, so hopefully I can slim down my waist and become the envied hourglass. This was really helpful!

    Dear Liza

That was a very lovely article!! Very hearfelt and true! In fact I think im speaking for a lot of women including myself who go through this period wherein their self esteem is very low because of their body shape…But you have just given us the confidence to believe that we are curvy not fat!..I would love to get any more information when you post it too!

    Thank you again

HORRIBLE! I ordered a pair of jeans that did not fit (and were not cheap). When I went on their site to send them back, I printed the return shipping label, and sent them back. They were sent back to me saying they would not accept it. I assumed there was some sort of explainable solution so I tried to call their 800 number. I was on hold for some time and it finally gave me no choice but to leave a number for them to call me. I never heard from them. I e-mailed them with the order number and they e-mailed back that they do not accept returns. I e-mailed back very upset that I could not return these and asked who I could respond to to take these a step further. I never heard back. I tried to access their on line chat, and it did not work – no response. I then tried the 800 number again with the same results as before. So I tried the local phone number and got a recording saying it had been disconnected with no forwarding number. I would assume they have gone out of business, but I see a comment from as recent as a few days ago. And I haven’t tried to test what happens if you place an order, but the website certainly looks like they are still open for business. I’ve never been burned on line before until now. VERY UPSET!

Oh Pamela – that’s just awful!

I just had a quick look at the site and the return policy says “As we transition to Spring, All sales are final during our January Spring Cleaning Sale”. This is a very important lesson. I had no idea a site could change their return policy on items. I’m so sorry you got burnt with this Pamela.

I’m also really interested in the fact the jeans didn’t fit. I’ve never ordered from this site as they don’t ship overseas. They tout their system as being very accurate. Did you enter all your measurements and go through the process? It would be great if you could let me know?
