About Lisa

I love clothes and in particular shoes but I'm just such a funky shape I find it hard to find stuff that works for me. I needed a little help and that led to my work on this blog. Turns out I love writing too, as well as helping people so I'm really onto a winner here!

I would love it if someone could help sort out the narrow shoulders/big boobs/saddlebags/short legs issue. The style suggestions for each of these features contradict one another. For example, creating volume on the bottom to balance out my boobs means that my shoulders look extra teeny; and likewise, wearing pencil skirts helps make my shoulders look broader but then my legs look like wee little sticks. I’m average weight and tall which actually makes things worse because I look like a pinhead on top with two incongruous breasts and short legs with strange bumps poking out the sides.

All that said, I LOVE your website because you’re so analytical about clothing and shape which one needs to be when they are navigating the potholes of body shape. :) Trinny and Susannah’s guidelines had me up at night with all the contradictions so further analysis is wonderful!

    Hi Seanna

I agree that this stuff is so contradictory. Actually the more I study it the more that I see that some of the contradictions actually aren’t though I can’t think of an example off the top of my head.

You’re a pear shape with big breasts. Very unusual and yeah really difficult to work with. You need to ignore this stuff about body shape because you don’t actually fit in. I’m just getting going on a whole “what to do if” series which looks at specific issues. For instance I think you are better working out what works for your lower half that you feel comfortable with and then dealing with the big breasts. Two different issues.

Look at hourglass suggestions and vase (for tops anyway) and pear and skittle for bottoms. Then experiment. Let me know what works because it will be helpful for others like you.

I’m also a big breasted pear with thin legs below the saddlebag line so wide leg trousers and chunky heels make me look all swallowed up. But skinny jeans also are horrifying due to the saddlebags. I am eternally on the hunt for just narrow enough trousers; although, I may just give up on them altogether because nothing hides short legs well. :P

I really appreciate the idea of dressing each half of my body (possibly thirds, now) using different types in mind. Classifying your body as a type doesn’t lead you to think that you may be a hybrid and yet when I think about it, this is the best solution! :)

If you want to do a what if series I’ll volunteer to be a template! :)

    Thank you again… :)

I am very small framed, 5’3, 100 lbs with narrow shoulders, and a large bust – the rest of me is small too, with 32 inch hips and a 24 inch waist, I have long ish for my height skinny legs – my boobs feel so out of place and I don’t know what body type i am.

    Hi Kristin

I think you’re what Trinny and Susannah refer to as a Lollipop.
