About Lisa

I love clothes and in particular shoes but I'm just such a funky shape I find it hard to find stuff that works for me. I needed a little help and that led to my work on this blog. Turns out I love writing too, as well as helping people so I'm really onto a winner here!

Totally disagree with the assertion to avoid bootcuts–actually, they’re among the most flattering for those of us with thunder thighs, just because the width at the leg opening balances out the width at the upper end of the pant (the thigh/hip–and unless you’re the unfortunate Brick, wide thighs usually = wide hips). Skinnies are, of course, death to girls with thighs, though.

(Another thing that’s really bad for big thighs is the angled front pocket on most trousers. Whoever invented those should be shot, along with whoever invented pleated pants!)

Totally support Bluemington Boutique’s comments – was surprised to read above that bootcuts aren’t great for those with large thighs – they are actually the best option. They balance out hips the best and generally those with large thighs will have large hips.

Believe it or not, not all skinny jeans are death to us girls with sad saddlebags. I’ve recently bought a pair that actually doesn’t look like sh%t . being so tight and of a strong thick fabric reduces my thighs. It’s like one of those modelling tights. I found the same applies for exercising tights (the ones you wear to do exercise). I used to avoid them together with skinny jeans like the plague but now I’m a tiny little bit more friendly towards them. At least I give them the benefit of the doubt. More often than not, I regret it, though; but what can you do when 95% of the pants sold in shops here in Uruguay are skinnies and the other 5% plain ugly shapeless trash bags?

    Hi Susan

Thanks for commenting. I agree that skinny jeans can totally work – I have a pair which I love. Its also sad that Uruguay doesn’t fare any better with options other than shapeless trash bags. So annoying.
