I bought this rather cute skirt from Asos Curve the other day though I’ve no idea why.
It’s completely unlike anything else I own.
Its not a look I usually go for. In fact I’ve written before how I spend most of my time in denim shorts and t-shirts.
But, I am trying to change my look to something more … pulled together I guess.
But this skirt. What was I thinking. It’s too long to be particularly flattering. And pleats! Oh my gosh pleats just add inches around the middle. It’s breaking practically every Trinny and Susannah rule for my shape there is.
Freaky as it feels I’ve actually made a conscious decision to throw out all those rules that I’ve spent so long learning about.
In a lot of ways rules for dressing your shape are incredibly restrictive, especially since they’re all about hiding fat and creating an hourglass shape.
And, well, frankly I’m just not that into trying to hide how fat I am any more.
What I want is nice clothes that fit well and make me feel good. Added emphasis on the fitting well.
Despite the fact this skirt is really not the best style for me and I can’t even decide whether I really like the look or not, I just love it. It fit really well and was so comfortable. It’s feminine and flirty and swirls in this great way that I just adore.
I may never wear it out of the house but I’m glad I bought it.
