I love coats. I always have. When I first graduated from college and got my first job the very first thing that I bought was a full length black trench coat. That was in the middle of the X-Files era and I was a massive fan. I used to put on my trench over my cheap polyester suit and feel like I was cool and chic and ever so slightly dangerous. And then I’d go do the banking. Not very cool, chic or in fact any way dangerous but I still felt good.
Of course now I live in the sub-tropics and my coat days are long gone. As I’m writing this it’s 6.32am and around 27 degrees. I’m thinking of going for a swim. Not exactly coat weather.
And the sad thing is, even in the midst of winter here its still not coat weather. On the coldest of cold days I sometimes put on a sweater, but you know, only till it gets warm.
For those of you who are experiencing cold, cold weather, a stylish coat is your very good friend. There is no point putting together amazing outfits and then pulling on some frumpy old jacket to leave the house. A good coat will complement your outfit, or in some cases, as with my experiences with the trench, completely make it.
Finding plus size coats used to be a mission, but now there is a lot more choice. Look around and see the many, many styles that they come in. I’ve posted about coats for your shape before if you’re not sure what will work for you have a read.
I really recommend anyone living in colder climates give serious thought to buying a coat that makes you feel fabulous every time you put it on. Or maybe even two.
